July 11 - Corner Brook
8am departure, loaded up with food and drink as it doesn't look like anything on the road. Road slowly into headwind through mostly flat plateau: trees, wetlands, mountains in the distance, a few farms, and even a few nicer houses. Cloudy but doesn't look like rain - I know it's coming. Huge flooding back home, especially VT, and dipped feet into the ocean yesterday that was surprisingly warm (shallow, close to shore), but climate change is a hoax. After a few hours on 480, turned onto t-can (highway sign: St John's 726) where headwind died and traffic picked up a bit. Literally nowhere to stop for 40 miles, until pinchgut lake restaurant where, cue the newfie jokes, it was instantly obvious that I would not be getting served anytime soon. So on to corner brook. Another nice day - little bit like the laurentians today, with super-sized lakes and mountains. Climbed up to over 1000', then a steep descent into town with 4pm arrival. Gonna hit a bike shop, big dinner and staying in nice (4 pillows!) Glynmill inn. 52 miles.
